Exodus 2013 for Hot Chocolate Trust

Exodus is the 3 week summer holiday programme run by youth work charity Hot Chocolate Trust. Running from the 23rd of July until the 10th of August 2013, Exodus is an intense time jam packed with trips, gigs, talent shows, workshops and wonderful mayhem.

Every year we undertake a group art project which runs as a series of workshops, drop in sessions and events. This year our theme was ‘Urbanized’ (for more info on Exodus themes, check out this awesome video by my good friend Andy) and we built a giant city from cardboard.

This year we teamed up with the Blue Skies Festival and Dundee Urban Orchard to open up some of our project to members of the public.

This is by far the biggest community art project I have ever delivered!

As part of the Blue Skies Festival I ran three 2-hour workshops that were open to the public and involved around 100 participants. This involved teaching skills and techniques to adults and children, coordinating volunteers and interns, documentation and organisation of materials.

I also coordinated 21 daily drop in sessions for the young people of Hot Chocolate over the 3 week programme, this involved my soul.

We were even lucky enough to have a visit from Mr Droogle who is in the process of adding our cardboard city to google street view… so watch this space!
