Pinhole workshops in Suriname

This week I had the opportunity to travel to Suriname to visit Tembe Arts Studio in Moengo, and at the Nola Hatterman Kunst Akademie in Paramaribo. The Tembe Arts Studio is an art, music and theatre space and includes a residency programme for local and visiting artists. There are also two contemporary art galleries showcasing the work of founder Marcel Pinas as well as the various artists who have been in residence over the years.

Suriname was an incredible place to visit, my first time on the South American continent and far from any other experiences I’ve had before. I was sad to spend such a short time there and would love to return to make more lasting connections with the artists and artist led spaces thriving there.
