Sraid nam Marbh | End of the Road
This exhibition of performance, installation, video, photography and print making is a body of work which began during a self directed residency on the island of Iona.
This work directly explored the theme of death, specifically suicide, and was in part a way of coming to terms with the loss of a friend. A combination of commemorative ritual and personal handling of the different stages of grief underlaid the work.
The title “Sraid nam Marbh” refers to the ancient “Street of the Dead” where the bodies of kings would be carried from the harbour, at the Bay of Martyrs, to the burial ground of Reilig Odran.
